Understand the reading

Context you can explain.

01

Read the state.

Up and Down describe direction. Neutral marks mixed structure or insufficient directional control, depending on the indicator.

02

Check the context.

Compass shows extension from session VWAP. Trend checks whether structure, momentum, and participation support its direction.

03

Keep your process.

Use the reading alongside your own trading plan. A directional state does not specify a trade or determine its risk.

What testing means

Direction, ribbon width, and confirmation describe different parts of the chart. Expansion does not identify the next direction, and a clearer display does not establish a profitable trading edge.

Is Compass actually free?

Yes. Download the complete Pine Script without an email, payment, invite, or trial period. You install it in your own TradingView account.

What do I get for $10?

The current Trend v6 Pine Script for personal use: a bold direction line, fading 13-line ribbon, soft conviction halo, optional value reference, confirmation arrows, and five alerts. It is a one-time purchase, not a subscription.

Which timeframe should I use?

Trend v6 works on standard time-based candles and bars. Its original settings were developed around five-minute charts; changing the interval changes the lookback period and behavior, and broader trading effectiveness is not established. Compass uses session VWAP for intraday context.

Does an arrow mean buy or sell?

No. Trend chart arrows mark the first full confirmation in a new directional state and may appear after its color changes. The badge arrow describes the current direction. Neither product provides entries, exits, stops, targets, or position sizes.

When does the display update?

Direction and context states commit when a chart bar closes. Trend v6 also commits its ribbon and halo at bar close; the optional value reference can move during the open bar. Historical data revisions and different loaded history can affect results.

How do downloads and refunds work?

Compass downloads directly. Trend downloads after Stripe verifies payment. If Trend is not a fit, the existing refund policy allows a request within seven calendar days. See the refund policy for the full terms.
